about

We are a not-for-profit social enterprise set up as an independent business, and trading in line with MACS charitable purposes.  This enterprise is an innovative way to extend access to MACS services and widen their core work.  For more information on MACS, see www.macss.org.uk

Any profits from the enterprise will be reinvested in MACS for social and local community purposes.  This will allow additional individuals in the community to benefit from our services.  At present only those willing and able to pass a Social Care & Health assessment are able to access MACS main services through a Supporting People contract.

Clients would benefit from the expertise and knowledge held by MACS regarding welfare benefits, income maximisation, debt advice, and budgeting.

Within this new project macs-plus could provide a home visiting service for clients who are unable to leave their home to manage their own finances.  Home visits are normally weekly, fortnightly or monthly, but could be more frequent or on request.

If you were assessed as needing longer term help, macs-plus could help you try to access the part of MACS services which is funded by contracts - this could be free-of-charge, but there is a long waiting list of several months.

macs-plus can look after finances short-term and long-term

  • short-term service to bring finances back into a manageable position
  • short-term service to sort out financial affairs when moving into residential care
  • short-term service on behalf of relatives after a death
  • money handling tends to be longer-term.  This involves taking responsibility for a client's money due to their vulnerability, infirmity or advancing age: we then pay bills, pay creditors, make investments: giving you access to the balance in cash, possibly through a home visiting service.
